Red Carpet Hairstyles

The MTV music awards are known for not being a normal run of the mill award show, with many outrageous style choices and red carpet hairstyles on show! Surprisingly, this year there were many more elegant and traditional red carpet styles with the outrageous and crazy left to just Nicki Minaj!

One of our favourite looks of the night was worn by Demi Lovato! She kept her red carpet look very young by teaming a sequined skater style dress with a studded leather jacket! Her hair was tousled with a slight wave and gave a rocker feel to the overall look. Demi was later presenting an award and this of course meant a change from the red carpet look she had been previously seen in. Demi Lovato’s hair had been given more of a neat wave and her hair was swept to the side giving a much more demure look than on the red carpet. We can’t wait to see the styles Demi will be wearing as X factor USA prepares to launch!

Rita Ora made an appearance at the awards show to present the award for Best Male Video, which she presented with Demi! Rita’s red carpet look was a little different; she chose an Emilio Pucci body jewelled suit. Known for her urban styling, the look was very fitting for her. When Rita took to the stage to present the award to Chris Brown she had changed into a very elegant Stéphane Rolland couture gown. The fringed shoulders and the belt detailing maintained her edgy feel. Her super blonde hair had been styled into vintage inspired waves which looked fantastic as one of the MTV music awards red carpet hairstyles.

Our fave of the red carpet hairstyles was worn by Katy Perry. She also looked incredible in her outfit ... she wore an Elie Saab Couture floor length gown that had stunning red and turquoise flower detailing. LOVE it! Katy, who has returned to her most famous black locks, also styled her hair with vintage inspiration. To create the look of Katy Perry’s hair you will need to use a large barrelled tong! Once you have fully curled your hair use a soft brush and gently brush out the curls. Add a little serum to your fingers and run this through the front of your hair to create the shape. Read more
